Big Timber, Montana sits at the gates to the Absaroka-Beartooth Wildernss Area. It is a small mountain town with big views, just 60 miles east of Bozeman and 80 miles west of Billings, easily accessed by I-90 and highway 191. With prairies to the north and east and mountains to the south and west, it is an ideal location for all sorts of outdoor recreation: road and mountain biking, hiking, and fishing (particularly for blue ribbon trout) to name a few. The beauty of the area has been captured on film more than once, most notably in A River Runs Through It and The Horse Whisperer. Spend a weekend or a few weeks in a Big Timber bed and breakfast, stop by Big Timber's old-fashion soda fountain, and get a taste of the Old West in Big Timber, Montana.
